It was a small, but sweet return of Java-Draw. We could count the total number of all those who attended on one hand, however the number of people who attend isn't the measuring stick for a good Drink & Draw or Java-Draw. The mark of a good Art & Beverage event is simply some people, in a social setting, creating art and drinking beverages.
We swapped portfolios, sketched away, and the first contests were unveiled.
ONE: Recess will be running an ongoing contest: to enter, just attend a "Drink & Draw" or "Java-Draw" event and ask for a Recess flyer. I'll give you a sheet that will have a space for your name & contact info, plus a large area to draw something. When your drawing gets back to the boys at Recess, they'll judge them and if they like them, they'll (1) use it for their flyers and advertisements. You'll have your name and website printed on the flyer, so more people can check out your artwork. and ALSO (2) you'll be awarded a pound of their own roasted coffee! They do all the roasting on the premesis, giving their coffee a completely unique flavor.
TWO: the Java-Draw contest! Similar setup as the Recess contest. You draw an image for the JAva-Draw flyer, and if gets picked, it'll run in the next months' flyer, name & website on display, plus you'll get some cool (and random) item.
I have YET to announce the winning (and only) entry for the first Java-Draw flyer contest. I'll have the winner notified and artwork scanned soon. It's a really good entry!
Java-Draw will grow again. These WILL be happening each and every month... from here on out. I've gotten my ducks in a row. So then, we go full steam ahead!
DON'T FORGET: Drink & Draw this coming Saturday! Clark's Ale House, August 30th! See you there!
